Itinerary
Day 1
Transfer from Cusco into the Sacred Valley, morning coffee, 35 km downhill biking from Abra Málaga to Huamanmarca, intermediate rafting in Santa María, transfer to Santa Teresa and optional evening soak at Cocalmayo; overnight in a cliffside capsule hotel.
Hotel pickup — transfer to the Sacred Valley
Your bilingual guide will meet you in your hotel lobby in Cusco early this morning. We depart together for the Sacred Valley en route to the ride start at Abra Málaga.
Tips from local experts:
- Be in the hotel lobby 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time with your ID and any medication accessible.
- Pack a small daypack with sunscreen, water bottle, and a light jacket — temperatures change quickly between Cusco and the valley.
- Expect bumpy mountain roads; bring motion-sickness medication if you’re prone and secure loose items in the vehicle.
Transfer to Abra Málaga (drive)
Scenic drive from Cusco toward the start point at Abra Málaga. Short briefing in the vehicle about the day's equipment, safety, and route.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep your camera ready for valley and mountain views during the drive; pullovers are brief and limited.
- Wear layers — mornings are cool and will warm up quickly once you descend downhill.
- Store large luggage at your Cusco hotel; bring only what you need for two days in a small bag.
Brief stop for coffee or optional breakfast
Short stop at a local restaurant for coffee and light breakfast before the biking and rafting sections.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring local currency (Peruvian soles) for extra snacks or coffee orders not included in the standard menu.
- If you have dietary restrictions, inform the guide at pickup so the restaurant can prepare suitable options.
- Use this stop to apply sunscreen and secure any electronics before the bike ride.
Downhill mountain biking — Abra Málaga to Huamanmarca (approx. 35 km)
Guided downhill ride across varied terrain and streams with panoramic Sacred Valley scenery. Equipment briefing, helmet and protective gear provided by the operator.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear closed-toe shoes and bring gloves; a small repair kit is useful but basic repairs will be handled by guides.
- Keep a steady pace and notify the guide immediately of any discomfort — the route includes uneven surfaces and stream crossings.
- Carry a light waterproof layer; afternoons can turn humid after crossings even if the morning is dry.
Intermediate rafting on the river in Santa María
After the ride, transfer to the river for an intermediate rafting session. Includes safety briefing, lifejackets, and guided rafting. Lunch served after or during the rafting program as scheduled.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a small dry bag for valuables, a change of clothes, and footwear that can get wet (water shoes or secure sandals).
- Do not leave glasses loose; use a strap or switch to contact lenses if preferred, and apply waterproof sunscreen.
- Inform the guide of any medical conditions (e.g., asthma, recent surgeries) before entering the water.
Transfer to Santa Teresa and capsule hotel check-in
Scenic transfer from the river to Santa Teresa. Check in at the capsule hotel (cliffside glass capsule) and time to refresh before optional evening activities.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep essential items (swimsuit, toiletries, medication) in your daypack for easy access at check-in.
- Capsule rooms are compact; pack minimal luggage for the night and use soft-sided bags where possible.
- Bring a rechargeable headlamp or small torch — capsule lighting is controlled and a personal light helps for late-night movement.
Optional evening at Cocalmayo hot springs (tickets included)
Relax in the thermal pools of Cocalmayo. This is an included attraction and a recommended romantic moment to watch the valley at dusk.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring swimsuit, quick-dry towel, and a change of clothes; pool facilities may charge for towel rental.
- Arrive early enough for sunset views; pools can be busier after dark and quieter earlier in the evening.
- Carry a small amount of cash for lockers, snacks, or local vendors near the springs.
Included dinner; evening at leisure in the capsule hotel
Dinner served at a nearby restaurant or hotel dining area (included). Afterwards return to your cliffside capsule for the night — a private and scenic overnight.
Tips from local experts:
- If you prefer a quieter dining area, let your guide know during check-in so they can arrange seating.
- Charge devices before turning in; capsule space is compact and power outlets may be shared or limited.
- Earplugs and an eye mask can help ensure a restful night in the capsule if you’re sensitive to light or sound.
Day 2
Breakfast in Santa Teresa, coffee & cacao farm tour, zipline canopy experience, then return transfer to Cusco with hotel drop-off — end of the 2-day program.
Sunrise breakfast at the capsule / heart of the Amazon
Early breakfast served with valley views — a quiet, romantic moment to watch the morning light before the farm visit.
Tips from local experts:
- Wake early for unobstructed sunrise views from the capsule area and to enjoy a relaxed breakfast before activities begin.
- Bring a light sweater for early-morning temperatures; the valley can be cool before full daylight.
- Confirm any dietary needs with your guide the evening before to ensure breakfast is prepared accordingly.
Coffee & cacao farm tour with tasting
Visit a local farm to learn about cultivation, washing, drying, roasting, and processing of coffee and cacao. The tour ends with a tasting of fresh local products.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear closed-toe shoes and insect repellent; farms may have uneven ground and insects in the morning.
- Ask the farmer questions about harvesting seasons — small-detail questions often yield deeper tasting notes during the cupping.
- Take notes or photos of processing steps if you’d like to remember names and flavors for later purchases.
Zip line / canopy experience over the jungle
Adrenaline canopy lines through the treetops with panoramic valley views. Safety briefing and harnessing provided by certified guides.
Tips from local experts:
- Leave loose items and jewelry at the meeting point; use zippered pockets or the provided lockers for phones and wallets.
- Wear comfortable, secure shoes and tie back long hair to avoid interference with the harness.
- Notify staff in advance of any recent injuries or health concerns; zipline operators require a short medical screening.
Included lunch in Santa Teresa
Lunch served after the zipline and before departure to Cusco. Time to relax, share photos, and prepare for the return transfer.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep your belongings together and confirm you have all personal items before boarding the vehicle back to Cusco.
- If you have leftovers or snacks, ask for a takeaway container for the drive home.
- Use this window to reapply sunscreen and hydrate for the return trip.
Return transfer to Cusco (round trip transport included)
Comfortable transfer back to Cusco. Use this time to rest, review photos, and debrief with your guide about the two-day experience before hotel drop-off.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect variable driving times depending on road conditions; keep an eye on windows and doors and keep belts fastened.
- If you need airport transfer after arrival in Cusco, arrange this with your hotel in advance rather than during the return transfer.
- Charge devices or use portable batteries during the drive; outlets on vehicles may be limited.
Hotel drop-off in Cusco — end of program
Drop-off at your Cusco hotel. Tour concludes after safe arrival and final guest check-out with the guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm exact hotel drop-off location with your guide during the return trip to ensure a smooth arrival.
- Collect all personal items from the coach and double-check pockets, chargers, and camera bags before leaving.
- If you plan to extend your stay in Cusco, ask your guide for trusted local restaurant and relaxation recommendations.
