Itinerary
Day 1
3-hour guided walking tour across Dubrovnik Old Town focusing on Game of Thrones filming locations, key historic sights, photo stops, and short comfort breaks. The tour moves east–west through the Old City and finishes at the opposite end of the walls.
Meet & Introduction at Pile Gate
Group meeting point and short safety/orientation briefing before the walk. Guide confirms the route, shows the meeting point on a map, and reviews accessibility notes.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 8–10 minutes early outside Pile Gate (western entrance) so the group can start on time.
- Keep small backpacks and valuables secured; streets are narrow and busy.
- If you're meeting late, notify the operator in advance — the guide will wait only a few minutes to keep the schedule.
Walk Stradun (Placa) — Cersei's Walk of Shame
Stroll along Dubrovnik's main street while the guide recounts Game of Thrones scenes filmed here and points out architectural highlights. Multiple quick photo-stops along the way.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable, flat shoes; Stradun is paved in limestone and can be slippery after rain.
- Stand to one side when taking photos so pedestrian flow is not blocked.
- Peak sun is strongest midday in May; use shaded shop arcades when available for short relief.
Gelato / Water Break at Gundulić Square
Short refreshment break in a shaded square near the old market — time to hydrate and grab a quick gelato if desired.
Tips from local experts:
- Carry a refillable water bottle; several cafés and shops offer water refills in the Old Town.
- If you buy gelato, keep it upright and be ready to eat quickly to avoid melting on warm days.
- Public restrooms are limited inside the Old Town; use café facilities if needed during the break.
Luza Square (Bell/Clock Tower) — King's Landing Bells
Visit Luža Square to hear and locate the historic bell/clock tower used as a backdrop in GoT scenes; the guide explains the local history and filming anecdotes.
Tips from local experts:
- Stand on the Luža side (near the bell tower) for the clearest photo angles of the square.
- Be mindful of street performers or market stalls that may occupy parts of the square.
- If you need shade, the arcades and nearby cafés provide short-term shelter during the stop.
Photo on the Iron Throne Replica
Guided photo opportunity on Dubrovnik's replica Iron Throne (official photo point inside the Old Town). The guide organizes the queue and helps with good photo angles.
Tips from local experts:
- Wait your turn and follow the guide's instructions to keep the photo queue moving smoothly.
- Small props or cosplay items are fine for quick photos, but avoid large or obstructive accessories.
- Keep belongings close while posing; busy photo spots can be targets for pickpockets.
Walk toward Ploče Gate & City Walls Viewpoint (Blackwater Bay)
Follow narrow lanes up toward the eastern side of the Old Town to reach viewpoints along the city walls with vistas over the Adriatic (Blackwater Bay in GoT). Guide explains the Red Keep gate references and points out filming locations from the walls' vantage.
Tips from local experts:
- This section includes some uneven steps and narrow alleys; wear stable footwear and take your time.
- Walls viewpoints can be windy; bring a light layer for photos near the sea-facing sections.
- Do not attempt to climb the official city walls without a paid walls ticket — this stop uses publicly accessible viewpoints near Ploče Gate only.
Wrap-up, final photos and Q&A (Finish at Ploče Gate)
Final group photos, summary of highlights, and time for quick questions. Tour ends at the eastern end of the Old Town (Ploče Gate) so participants can continue exploring independently.
Tips from local experts:
- If you plan to continue on the city walls after the tour, buy a city walls ticket at the official ticket office before lining up.
- Public transport and taxis are accessible a short walk from Ploče Gate if you need onward transport.
- If you want more GoT-related locations (outside the Old Town), ask your guide for directions — they can point out nearby spots even though they're not part of this tour.
