Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival and private transfer to your downtown Ho Chi Minh City hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure to relax or explore nearby streets.
ARRIVAL IN SAIGON
Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat Airport you will be met by your representative and transferred to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is free for independent exploration.
Tips from local experts:
- After exiting the arrivals hall, look for a representative holding the tour company name; if delayed, call the 24‑hour customer care/WhatsApp number provided.
- Have a small amount of Vietnamese dong ready for immediate expenses (taxi tips, water); cards are not always accepted on small purchases.
- Allow 30–45 minutes for the airport-to-District 1 transfer depending on traffic; avoid planning tight connections immediately after arrival.
Day 2
Full-day Saigon city tour in the morning followed by a guided visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels in the afternoon. The day includes walking through central landmarks and a longer road transfer to Cu Chi.
CU CHI TUNNELS AND SAIGON CITY TOUR (Briefing)
Short briefing with your guide outlining the day's schedule, pickup times and practical notes before the walking tour begins.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm the guide's phone number and planned meeting point at the end of the briefing in case you get separated.
- Carry a small daypack for essentials (water, camera, sunscreen) since you'll continue touring after the briefing.
- If you prefer a quieter pace, tell the guide now so they can adjust walking segments and timings.
Morning walking tour
Meet your guide at Lam Son Square and walk along Đồng Khởi Street past the Rex Hotel, Municipal Theatre and other historic streets of District 1.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable shoes for paved streets and light staircases inside some buildings.
- Mornings are cooler and less crowded—bring a light layer for early hours and plan photos near the Municipal Theatre.
- Stay hydrated; vendors and cafes along Đồng Khởi sell bottled water if you need to top-up.
Visit the Post office and the Notre-Dame Cathedral
Short visits to the Saigon Central Post Office (French colonial architecture) and the adjacent Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon.
Tips from local experts:
- Bathrooms are available inside the Post Office building—use them before longer walking segments.
- Modest dress is appreciated inside the cathedral; avoid loud behavior during services.
- Peak photo times can be busy; if you want unobstructed shots, ask the guide for a 10–15 minute quieter window.
Walk by US Embassy (Le Duan Boulevard)
A short street-side stop to view the former US Embassy area along Lê Duẩn Boulevard and hear its historical context from your guide.
Tips from local experts:
- This is a quick exterior stop—no entry into embassy buildings is possible; keep personal documents with you.
- Traffic on Lê Duẩn can be busy; stay close to the guide and use marked crossings.
- Photography is fine from public sidewalks but avoid photographing security personnel or controlled premises.
Visit Independence Palace (Reunification Palace)
Guided visit to the historic Independence Palace (Dinh Độc Lập / Reunification Palace) with time to view key rooms and the grounds.
Tips from local experts:
- Security checks are standard—have a photo ID ready and follow staff instructions.
- Some rooms have low lighting; if you need seating ask the guide to point out benches or rest areas.
- Audio guides may be available at the site; if you prefer a quieter experience, request a shorter guided loop.
Visit War Remnants Museum
Visit the War Remnants Museum to view exhibits and photographs documenting Vietnam's modern history. The museum is emotionally powerful and best approached with some time to reflect.
Tips from local experts:
- Plan 45–60 minutes for the main exhibits; some areas contain graphic wartime images and may be sensitive.
- Photography is allowed in most galleries but avoid flash near archival photos or artifacts.
- Pick a quieter gallery first if you prefer a less-crowded experience; crowds peak midday.
Visit Cu Chi tunnels
Drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels in the afternoon. Explore the tunnels and learn about the guerrilla network used during the Vietnam War. The visit involves walking, some low-ceiling tunnel sections and stairs.
Tips from local experts:
- Allow for a 1.5–2 hour road transfer each way—bring motion-sickness remedies if prone to travel discomfort.
- Some tunnel sections are narrow and low; if you have claustrophobia or mobility limitations, stay on surface routes and observe from the guide.
- Wear sturdy shoes and bring insect repellent; facilities are basic at the site so carry water and any personal needs.
Day 3
Full-day Mekong Delta discovery to My Tho with boat travel to river islands, a visit to a fruit orchard, sampan canal cruise and a local family visit. Lunch in My Tho is included.
MEKONG DELTA DISCOVERY TO MY THO
Your guide meets you at 08:30 for the drive to My Tho, where you board a boat to visit river islands, sample local fruits, take a sampan through narrow canals, visit a local family for tea or rice wine, and enjoy a included lunch in My Tho before returning to Saigon in the mid/late afternoon.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen) and a light rain layer; weather can change quickly on the river.
- Carry a small amount of cash (VND) for local purchases or tips; larger cards are generally not accepted in village shops.
- For the family-visit portion, dress modestly and avoid flash photography; small token gifts such as packaged fruit are appreciated but optional.
Day 4
Day at leisure until private transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for your onward travels. Accommodation checkout is not included unless arranged separately.
DEPART HO CHI MINH CITY
Free time until transfer to the airport. When your flight time is confirmed the driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Tan Son Nhat Airport. Tour ends on arrival at the airport.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your flight time and desired pickup time with the local office the evening before departure.
- Allow at least 2–3 hours before an international flight for check-in and security; traffic can add 30–60 minutes to transfer time.
- Keep important travel documents and any medication in your carry-on; driver will help with luggage loading but keep valuables with you.
