Itinerary
Day 1
Meet & Welcome at Bandongan Teaching Farm
Arrival, check-in and short orientation. Staff will welcome the group, confirm any dietary/allergy needs for lunch, and introduce the instructor and workspace.
Tips from local experts:
- If you requested pickup, expect to meet the vehicle in your hotel lobby; otherwise arrive directly to Bandongan Teaching Farm (placeQuery below) by 09:00.
- Bring a light jacket or cover-up for mornings — the farm is open-air and can be breezy; young children should have layered clothing.
- Inform staff on arrival about any food allergies or mobility needs so the team can adjust seating and lunch options.
Hands-on Weaving Workshop (Central Java techniques)
Guided, practical session learning local hand-weaving techniques. Participants will sit with instructors to learn basic patterns and try weaving a small sample piece.
Tips from local experts:
- Recommended for children aged 6+ with adult supervision; younger children can watch or do simplified tasks like selecting threads.
- Wear comfortable, stain-tolerant clothing and closed-toe shoes; natural dyes and threads can leave marks on light fabrics.
- Bring a small bag for the finished sample; instructors will provide basic materials and scissors but families should keep small personal items secured.
Special Lunch — Local Home-style Meal
Enjoy a set lunch prepared on-site featuring local Central Java dishes appropriate for families. Time is allocated to rest, eat, and ask informal questions about local food and farm produce.
Tips from local experts:
- Let staff know on arrival if anyone in your group requires vegetarian, halal confirmation, or has food allergies — the kitchen can accommodate where informed in advance.
- Children's portions are available on request; ask at check-in so the kitchen can prepare suitable servings.
- Bring a refillable water bottle if you prefer; plain drinking water is provided but a personal bottle makes refills easier for kids.
Showcase, Questions and Farewell
Short presentation of participant samples, Q&A with instructors about techniques and local craft resources, and practical wrap-up with guidance for taking home and caring for finished pieces.
Tips from local experts:
- Allow a few minutes at the end for photos of finished work; instructors can help with brief demonstrations for better shots.
- If you plan to travel onward, request simple packing advice from staff to protect woven samples in luggage.
- Confirm return pickup or drop-off arrangements before leaving the site if you used the pickup service; ensure the driver has your correct hotel name and room number if needed.
