Itinerary
Day 1
Morning small-group snorkeling safari. Meet at the pier on Nusa Penida; board a local snorkeling boat and visit up to four sites (Manta Bay, Crystal Bay Beach, Gamat Bay, Wall Point). Total activity time on schedule is 2 hours 30 minutes.
Meet at Dolphino Snorkeling pier (check-in)
Group check-in, safety briefing and equipment fitting at the meeting pier. Staff confirm snorkeling ability, distribute masks/snorkels/fins, towels and water.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before the scheduled start to complete check-in and equipment fitting.
- Wear swimwear under light clothing and bring a small dry bag for personal items left on the pier.
- Use reef-safe sunscreen and avoid applying heavy lotions before boarding to reduce gear slipperiness.
Board boat / depart for snorkeling sites
Board the snorkeling boat and transit to the first snorkeling site. Crew provide launching assistance and final safety reminders.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep movement slow when boarding and follow crew directions—the pier and boat can be slippery.
- Secure any loose items (phones, small bags) in a waterproof pouch or leave them at the pier with your group.
- If prone to seasickness, take medication at least 30 minutes before departure and stay mid-boat for smoother ride.
Snorkel — Manta Bay
First snorkeling stop to look for manta rays and observe pelagic activity. Guests enter and snorkel from the boat under guide supervision.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep a safe distance from mantas and follow the guide's positioning instructions—do not chase or touch them.
- Use a mask defogger or a small dab of baby shampoo to keep your mask clear for longer visibility.
- Stay calm at the surface and breathe slowly when mantas are present; the crew will advise when to enter/exit the water.
Transit between sites
Short boat transit to the next snorkeling location.
Tips from local experts:
- Remain seated while boat is moving and hold onto rails or secure points to avoid slipping.
- Keep personal belongings in a waterproof bag and check masks/snorkels between sites.
- Ask crew about current and tide conditions at the next site to plan entry and swim direction.
Snorkel — Crystal Bay Beach
Snorkeling over shallow reefs with chances to see colorful reef fish and turtles; photographer captures group shots.
Tips from local experts:
- Enter the water following the guide’s indicated point to avoid fragile reef and sharp coral.
- Keep fins pointed down while resting to avoid kicking the reef; follow guide positioning for photos.
- Bring an anti-fog cloth for quick mask cleaning between dives and keep water-safe ID with you.
Transit between sites
Short transit to the next snorkeling location.
Tips from local experts:
- Stay hydrated between swims; bottled water is provided—sip regularly to avoid fatigue.
- Listen for crew instructions about which side of the boat to enter at the next site.
- If you need a rest, signal the crew rather than trying to swim back to the boat alone.
Snorkel — Gamat Bay
Shallow reef snorkeling to observe diverse reef fish and coral formations; guided group underwater photos.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep a close eye on the guide and the flag/buoy system—they will indicate safe swim zones.
- Avoid touching or standing on coral; use the guide as a reference point to maintain position.
- Wear a snorkel vest if you are less confident—crew can provide and fit one before entry.
Transit to final snorkeling stop
Short boat transit to the last snorkeling site (Wall Point).
Tips from local experts:
- Keep any wet clothing separate from dry items in a waterproof bag while on board.
- Ask the crew for a quick mask/silicone rinse before the final snorkel if visibility is reduced.
- Observe local crew procedures for re-entry and follow their positions for clean, safe entries.
Snorkel — Wall Point
Final snorkeling stop at a wall/reef point to see varied coral structures and reef life. Underwater photographer available for group shots.
Tips from local experts:
- Watch the guide’s instructions for where to float and where to swim to protect the reef and maximize sightings.
- Keep movements slow and controlled near walls; visibility can be better along drop-offs—stay with the group.
- Signal the boat crew if you need to rest; they will provide assistance and collect anyone from the water.
Return to pier and end of activity
Return transit to the meeting pier, boat disembarkation and equipment return. End of the snorkeling safari.
Tips from local experts:
- Collect towels and returned equipment before disembarking; check pockets for personal items.
- Bring a small change of clothes and a dry towel to change into after disembarking at the pier.
- If you left items at the pier, verify with staff before leaving the meeting area.
