Itinerary
Day 1
Start with hotel pickup and a clockwise route that covers the city centre sights, Amber Fort area, and returns for City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Timings include transit and short photo stops; lunch is optional and based on your preference.
Hotel Pickup
Your private driver and guide will collect you from your hotel or a preferred location in Jaipur. Brief introduction to the day and settle into your air-conditioned car before departure.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm the exact pickup location and best contact number the evening before the tour.
- Have any airline or train details ready if pickup is from Jaipur Airport or Railway Station.
- Keep a light jacket or scarf handy in early-morning cooler months (November–February).
Hawa Mahal / Wind Palace — Photo Stop
Quick stop at the iconic Hawa Mahal in the Pink City for photos and an introduction to its history and facade of jharokhas.
Tips from local experts:
- Best photos are taken from the road across the monument (often the east side) — your guide will position the car safely for a quick stop.
- Arrive earlier in the day to avoid peak crowding and traffic in nearby bazaars.
- Carry small notes for local vendors; street areas can be busy — keep personal items secure.
Transfer to Amber (Amer) Fort
Drive from the city centre to Amber Fort at the hilltop near Amer town. Use this transit to enjoy views of Jaipur's outskirts and the Aravalli foothills.
Tips from local experts:
- The drive to Amber Fort typically takes 30–40 minutes depending on traffic; restrooms are available at fuel stops if needed.
- Keep bottled water available in the car; hydration is helpful especially during warmer months.
- If you prefer to avoid stairs at Amber Fort, notify your guide; visit areas with more level access first.
AMER FORT — Guided Visit
Guided exploration of Amber Fort, its courtyards, palaces and the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace). Learn about the Rajput history and enjoy panoramic views over Maota Lake.
Tips from local experts:
- Amber Fort involves uneven steps and some uphill walking; wear comfortable, non-slip shoes.
- Photography is allowed in most areas but be mindful of signs and restricted zones inside certain halls.
- Plan small breaks during the visit — benches and shaded spots are available in courtyards for resting.
Panna Meena ka Kund — Stepwell Visit
Short visit to the 16th-century stepwell near Amber, admired for its symmetrical staircases and quieter atmosphere — a great spot for unique photos and a cultural explanation of historic water systems.
Tips from local experts:
- The stepwell has open ledges and steps — supervise children closely and avoid getting too close to edges.
- This site is compact; allocate 15–20 minutes for photos and explanation.
- Wear shoes you can safely walk on stone steps with; surfaces can be uneven or slightly slippery.
Jal Mahal (Water Palace) — Photo Stop
Stop at Man Sagar Lake for views of Jal Mahal, the palace that appears to float on the water. The guide will share background while you take photos from the lakeside viewpoint.
Tips from local experts:
- Visitors cannot enter Jal Mahal; best views and photos are taken from the lake shore or the east-side viewpoint.
- There is limited shade at the lakeside — bring sunscreen or a hat during sunny months.
- If you want a quiet photo together, ask the guide to position the car where foot traffic is light.
Royal Gaitor (Gaitor Ki Chhatriyan) — Visit
Visit the peaceful marble cenotaphs at Royal Gaitor to learn about Jaipur’s royal funerary architecture and artisan stone-carving traditions.
Tips from local experts:
- Gaitor terrain is mostly level but has some steps; wear comfortable shoes and be ready for brief walks between cenotaphs.
- This site is traditionally quiet — keep conversation low to respect the memorial nature of the place.
- Bring small change in case you wish to purchase a local guidebook or a bottled water from nearby vendors.
Optional Lunch Break
Pause for an optional lunch at a clean, trusted local restaurant recommended by your guide. Traditional Rajasthani thali or North Indian dishes are commonly suggested. Lunch is at your own expense unless you selected an inclusive option.
Tips from local experts:
- Tell your guide about any dietary restrictions or allergies so they can recommend appropriate menu choices.
- Select restaurants near City Palace to save transit time and return quickly to the central sights.
- If you prefer a quick stop, request a thali or set menu for efficient service without long waits.
City Palace Museum — Guided Visit
Explore Jaipur’s City Palace complex with your guide: courtyards, royal rooms, artifacts, textiles and weapons illustrating the city’s royal heritage and Mughal-Rajput architecture.
Tips from local experts:
- The City Palace has sections with uneven thresholds and steps; request the most accessible routes if needed.
- Photography may be restricted in some rooms—follow signage and guide instructions.
- Allow time to view small museum rooms slowly; benches are available in larger courtyards for rest.
Jantar Mantar — Guided Visit
Visit the 18th-century astronomical observatory, a UNESCO site, to see the large stone instruments used to measure time and celestial positions with explanations from your guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Jantar Mantar is largely outdoors; check the daylight and wear sun protection when visiting in the middle of the day.
- Allow time for the guide to demonstrate a few key instruments; the site is compact but offers a lot of interpretive detail.
- Quiet photography is fine — some instruments are fragile, so keep a respectful distance when instructed.
Evening Free — Shopping or Leisure
Flexible time to browse Jaipur's bazaars for textiles, block prints, gemstones, blue pottery and handicrafts, or to return directly to your hotel to relax. Your guide can recommend or accompany you to local markets.
Tips from local experts:
- Popular bazaars near the City Palace include Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar — keep an eye on opening hours, which may vary by shop.
- If you plan to shop, ask your guide for a recommended shop that suits your interests (textiles, jewellery, pottery).
- Carry small change and keep purchases secure; many shops accept cards but cash is common for street vendors.
Hotel Drop-Off
End of the private tour with drop-off at your hotel or a preferred location in Jaipur. A short debrief and answers to any final questions from your guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your preferred drop-off location with the guide before the tour ends to ensure smooth return.
- If you need onward transport (taxi, train timing), ask the guide for assistance while still with the vehicle.
- Keep any receipts or notes the guide gives you for future reference or follow-up questions.
