Itinerary
Day 1
Evening departure from Belém for a 2-hour guided sunset sail along the Tagus River, with two drinks and a Portuguese appetizer served halfway through.
Meet & Safety Briefing — Doca de Belém (Boarding)
Guests are welcomed aboard by the Captain and Host. Crew of 2 provides a safety briefing, explains the yacht layout and how to enjoy the experience. Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled departure for check-in procedures.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive at Doca de Belém 15 minutes before the start time for check-in and the safety briefing.
- Wear flat, non-slip shoes and a light jacket — temperatures on the river breeze drop after sunset.
- Bring your reservation voucher and a photo ID to speed check-in; luggage storage is not available aboard.
Sail past Belém Monuments
Departing Belém, the yacht sails along the west riverside where the crew provides commentary on Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Belém Tower as you pass.
Tips from local experts:
- Position yourself on the starboard side for unobstructed views of Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Belém Tower as you sail west-to-east.
- Keep a light layer handy — the river breeze is stronger when the yacht is moving.
- If you want photos including the monument and the yacht, ask a crew member to step back a few meters for a wider shot.
Continue along Belém waterfront (Avenida Brasília)
Continue sailing east along the Belém waterfront; crew narration covers historical context and notable riverside buildings.
Tips from local experts:
- If you prefer a quieter spot, move forward on deck toward the bow where the view is more open and less shaded.
- Keep personal items secured — small bags can shift on deck while under sail.
- Ask the crew about recommended scenic photo spots for couples if you want a framed sunset shot.
Riverside Lisbon Sights — Ribeira das Naus area
Sail along the central Lisbon riverside towards Cais do Sodré and Ribeira das Naus; commentary includes Bairro Alto, Chiado and the downtown waterfront.
Tips from local experts:
- For skyline and waterfront shots, stand aft (rear) of the yacht when passing the downtown riverfront.
- If you have motion sensitivity, choose a forward seat where motion is less pronounced and focus on the horizon.
- Use a phone or camera with a wide-angle setting to capture both the riverside and the yacht in one frame.
Halfway: Drinks & Portuguese Appetizer (Avenida Infante Dom Henrique)
Halfway through the cruise the crew serves two drinks per person (Portuguese wine, beer, juice, soda or water) plus a Portuguese cheese & chouriço appetizer while you enjoy the sunset over the water.
Tips from local experts:
- Inform the crew at boarding about any food or drink allergies so they can prepare alternatives if needed.
- Choose a seat with a clear view of the western horizon to watch the sunset while you enjoy the appetizer.
- Keep glasses steady on deck — the crew will provide stable trays, but it’s safest to hold drinks while the yacht is moving.
Sailing past Alfama & São Jorge Castle
After refreshments, continue upriver with views of Alfama, Lisbon Cathedral and São Jorge Castle; the crew provides personalized guided commentary on these historic neighborhoods.
Tips from local experts:
- If you want partner portraits with the castle or Alfama in the background, ask the crew to slow briefly when crewed safely allows.
- Be mindful of other guests when moving across deck; keep passages clear for the crew.
- If you’d like a quieter atmosphere, the forward deck often has less foot traffic at this point of the cruise.
View toward Cristo Rei (Almada) across the river
The yacht turns to show the Cristo Rei monument on the Almada side and the 25 de Abril Bridge from the river for dramatic sunset views.
Tips from local experts:
- Stand on the port side for the best framed view of Cristo Rei and the 25 de Abril Bridge together during sunset.
- Use a telephoto lens or zoom on your phone to compress the bridge and Cristo Rei for romantic silhouette photos.
- If the sun is low, sunglasses with a strap are useful — it’s easier to enjoy the view without squinting.
Return past Campo de Santa Clara and Disembark
The yacht returns toward the Belém dock area, passing Campo de Santa Clara and final riverside sights before disembarkation and a short debrief with the crew.
Tips from local experts:
- Collect all personal belongings before the final approach to the dock; there is limited time to disembark.
- When disembarking, follow crew instructions and step carefully — dock surfaces can be uneven and wet.
- If you need a taxi or ride-share after disembarking, ask the crew for the nearest pickup point and current local recommendations.
