Itinerary
Day 1
Private transfer from Mérida to Uxmal, guided archaeological visit, swim at a natural cenote, guided tour of Hacienda Yaxcopoil, then regional lunch in Muna and return to Mérida.
Zona Arqueológica de Uxmal – guided visit
Pickup from your Mérida hotel (standard pickup time 08:30 from hotels in Mérida). Drive to the Uxmal archaeological zone. Arrival approximately 09:30. Certified guide-led tour of the main plazas and Pyramid of the Magician (Palacio del Adivino) and surrounding structures. Guided portion scheduled 09:40–11:00. After the visit we transfer to the nearby cenote.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a wide-brim hat and sunscreen applied after the visit — sunscreen is discouraged before swimming in cenotes; carry sunscreen in a separate bag to apply after leaving archaeological grounds.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes; some paths have uneven stones—ask the guide to pause for photos near the Nunnery Quadrangle façade for a quieter view.
- Carry small change and ID in a secure pocket for site entrance or restroom facilities; follow your guide’s instructions about restricted areas and no-climbing rules.
Cenote Kankirixche – swim and nature time
Short transfer from Uxmal to the cenote. Arrival approx. 11:40. You will have roughly 45 minutes to enter the water and enjoy the cenote’s natural formation. Lifejackets are provided (included). The guide will explain local Mayan cosmogony associated with cenotes and provide directions for safe access.
Tips from local experts:
- Do not apply sunscreen, lotions, or insect repellent before entering the cenote; use the biodegradable repellent offered by the guide if needed.
- Bring a towel and a dry bag for electronics; stairs into cenotes can be steep and slippery—use the handrail and take your time.
- If you prefer shallower water, request a lifejacket from the guide before entering; the guide will advise on the safest access point.
Hacienda Museo Yaxcopoil – guided tour
Transfer from the cenote to Hacienda Yaxcopoil; arrival approx. 13:00. One-hour guided tour (13:00–14:00) covering the hacienda’s history, henequén (sisal) era context, and restored areas that recall the region’s colonial and agrarian history. After the tour we transfer to a local restaurant in Muna for lunch.
Tips from local experts:
- Dress modestly for indoor museum rooms; some exhibit rooms are shaded but can be warm—light layers work well.
- Carry hand sanitizer and use available restrooms before the tour begins; hacienda grounds can be spread out with sun between stops.
- Ask your guide about specific hacienda history and any surviving artifacts; photography is usually allowed but follow signage and staff instructions.
Lunch at La Finca Puuc (Muna) — regional cuisine
Transfer from the hacienda to the restaurant in Muna. Arrival around 14:00 for roughly 80 minutes of free time to enjoy regional dishes such as poc-chuc (pork marinated in sour orange). Lunch is not included in the tour price. Depart the restaurant at about 15:30 for the return transfer to Mérida, with expected hotel drop-off around 16:30.

- Carry small cash for incidental purchases; the restaurant is a regional setting and payment methods can vary.
- Allow a 5–10 minute buffer after your meal to regroup and board the vehicle—departure for Mérida is timed to allow comfortable return.
