Itinerary
Day 1
Private transport from your Montego Bay resort to the riding location, a guided horseback ride through jungle trails and along the beach with time in the water, then return to your resort.
Resort pick-up
Your courteous driver and guide meet you in your resort lobby (or cruise port/Airbnb meeting point) with a sign. Quick boarding and preparation for the short transfer to the riding location.
Tips from local experts:
- Look for the driver holding a sign reading 'YOUNG,S TOURS' either outside the resort lobby or at the cruise/airport arrival area.
- Have a light layer and closed-toe shoes ready — you’ll change into riding boots or use provided stirrups at the stable if needed.
- Confirm any mobility needs or infant seating with the driver when they arrive (infants must not sit on laps).
Transfer to riding location
Short road transfer from your resort to the horseback riding meeting/stable area on the outskirts of Montego Bay.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect a short, scenic drive — keep cameras handy for coastal views on the way.
- If you need sunscreen or insect repellent, apply before arrival; guides will not always supply these items.
- If you have mobility concerns, mention them to the driver so the guide can assist during dismounts (site is wheelchair accessible).
Safety briefing & saddle-up
Meet your riding guides, receive a short safety introduction and handling tips, then saddle up and prepare for the guided ride.
Tips from local experts:
- Listen to the guide’s handling and safety instructions closely, especially if you’re a novice rider.
- Secure loose items (phones, sunglasses) before mounting to keep them safe during the ride and in the water.
- Notify the guide immediately if you are pregnant or feel unwell — this activity is not recommended for pregnant travelers.
Guided horseback ride — jungle trail to private beach (special moment)
A guided ride through lush jungle paths with cliff and sea viewpoints. The highlight: riding the horse through shallow Caribbean waters and relaxing on a private beach — an ideal romantic moment for couples.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring swimwear under light clothing if you want to ride into the water and take a quick dip after the ride.
- Wear closed-toe shoes with a small heel or riding boots; flip-flops are not suitable for riding.
- Keep personal items in a small waterproof pouch; saltwater and sand can damage electronics and jewelry.
Private beach stop & photos
Short break on a private stretch of beach after the ride — time for photos, cooling off in the shallow water, and enjoying the coastal views before returning.
Tips from local experts:
- If you plan to take photos in the water, use a waterproof camera or secured phone strap to avoid loss.
- Apply reef-safe sunscreen and rinse off saltwater where freshwater showers are available if needed.
- Keep valuables with the guide or in the provided secure area while on the beach.
Return transfer & drop-off
Return drive to your Montego Bay resort or original meeting point, where the driver will assist with disembarkation.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your preferred drop-off point with the driver before leaving the riding location.
- If you changed into wet clothing, bring a dry change of clothes in a small bag for the return transfer.
- Tipping the guide and driver is customary for good service; have small bills ready if you wish to tip.
