Itinerary
Day 1
Late-afternoon meeting, safety briefing and a 2-hour guided sunset kayak that visits a sheltered beach and nearby coves.
Meet at Kayak Oman Wikitours — check-in
Arrive at the operator launch for check-in, waiver and bag drop. Guides will confirm group size, boat assignments and collect any required paperwork.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10 minutes early to complete check-in and avoid delaying departure.
- Wear swimwear under light clothing you can paddle in; quick-dry layers are best for sunset conditions.
- Store valuables at check-in or keep them in the provided phone cover – avoid loose items in pockets while on the water.
Safety briefing & kit fitting
Guides provide a short safety briefing, demonstrate paddling technique, fit lifejackets and distribute paddles and phone covers. Guides will explain the planned route and signal system.
Tips from local experts:
- Pay attention to the lifejacket fitting—adjust straps until the guide confirms a secure fit.
- Use this time to ask the guide about the route, wildlife to expect, and where to swim safely.
- Visit the restroom before launch; there is limited opportunity to return to shore once underway.
Sunset paddle to hidden beach & exploration
Paddle as a small group under guide direction to a nearby sheltered/hidden beach and explore adjacent coves. Time included for short swims or standing in shallow water; guides point out birds and coastal life.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep pace with the guide and stay within sight—formation paddling helps conserve energy and keeps the group together during low light.
- If you plan to swim briefly, use reef-safe sunscreen and avoid standing on corals; shallow corals may be present.
- Use the provided phone cover for photos; keep personal cameras secured to avoid loss while paddling.
Return to launch & equipment return
Paddle back to the launch site as daylight fades, return kayaks and gear, dry off and collect belongings. Brief wrap-up with guides and end of activity.
Tips from local experts:
- Allow a few minutes to dry off before getting into a car; bring a light towel or quick-dry robe.
- Rinse sand and salt off gear if a rinse station is provided to avoid carrying corrosion-prone items.
- Check pockets and the phone cover for personal items before leaving the launch area.
