Itinerary

Fully guided tea ceremony session including kimono dressing, demonstration, participant practice, and time for photos. Total scheduled duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.
Meet & Kimono dressing
Meet at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka lobby and proceed to the tea room area on the 4th floor. Staff will assist you into a provided kimono and explain basic etiquette for the ceremony.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka lobby at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time; the tea room is located on the 4th floor.
- Wear clothing and footwear that's easy to remove (slip-on shoes are easiest); you'll change into the provided kimono and will need to remove shoes in the tea-room area.
- If you need decaffeinated matcha for a child or have a wheat allergy (sweets contain wheat), notify the operator in advance so they can prepare alternatives.
Tea ceremony demonstration & participant practice
In the hotel tea room on the 4th floor, the tea master will explain the history and cultural meaning of the tea ceremony, prepare matcha for you (two servings) with Japanese sweets (two pieces), then guide you through making matcha yourself. Time included for photos while wearing the kimono.
Tips from local experts:
- Observe the host’s movements and posture briefly before trying; keep movements slow and deliberate during the ceremony for authentic timing and photos.
- Photography is allowed — use quiet camera settings and avoid flash during the demonstration to respect the formal atmosphere.
- There is limited mobility access; if you have any mobility concerns, notify the operator in advance and arrive early so staff can assist with seating and timing.
