Itinerary
Day 1
Pickup – Meet at ship or agreed meeting point
Private driver will meet you at the cruise terminal arrivals lounge or agreed hotel lobby and escort you to the vehicle. Driver will confirm the day's plan and estimated return time to the ship.
Tips from local experts:
- Have your booking name ready for the driver sign; ports often have many drivers waiting.
- Keep a lightweight bag and any fragile items with you; large luggage must remain on the ship.
- Confirm the exact rendezvous point with your driver as port layouts can be busy.
Drive & photo stops around the Medieval City walls
Short scenic drive around the exterior of the Medieval City of Rhodes for photos of the main gates and defensive walls. Vehicles are not allowed inside the Old Town; the driver will stop at a convenient gate for a short walk.
Tips from local experts:
- Carry a light jacket in early morning sea breeze; shaded photo spots may still feel cool.
- Wear comfortable shoes for a brief 10–15 minute walk near the gate; the driver will remain nearby.
- If you prefer to be dropped at the Old Town gate to walk back to the ship, tell the driver before you disembark.
Short walk through the Old Town (drop-off at gate)
A brief pedestrian walk through part of the Medieval Old Town starting from the gate area. The driver will advise on the easiest route back to the ship if you choose to continue on foot.
Tips from local experts:
- The Old Town is pedestrian-only; keep valuables secure and be mindful of uneven flagstones.
- Limit the walk to the agreed time so the driver can keep the schedule; ask for directions back to the port if you decide to explore longer.
- There are small cafés and shaded benches near the main lanes if you need a short rest.
Mandraki Harbour – photo stop & Church of the Annunciation
Stop at Mandraki harbour for photos of the marina and Italian-era buildings. Short visit to the Church of the Annunciation (exterior and brief interior viewing if time allows).
Tips from local experts:
- Keep camera ready for classic views of the harbour entrance and nearby windmills.
- If entering the church, dress respectfully (shoulders and knees covered) and be quiet during services.
- Watch for local traffic near the quay when stepping out for photos; use pedestrian crossings.
Colossus viewpoint (Neoria / Neoriou area)
Short stop at Neoria (Neoriou) square area to review the historical site where the Colossus stood and take harbour photos.
Tips from local experts:
- This is a quick photo stop; keep to the group schedule if returning to the ship.
- There are shaded benches and cafés a short walk from the square if you need a brief sit-down.
- Mind the harbour edge and do not attempt to access restricted piers.
Italian architecture & northern tip drive-by
Drive through the newer town to view notable Italian-era buildings and a brief stop at the northern tip where the Mediterranean and Aegean meet for a quick panorama.
Tips from local experts:
- Listen to the driver’s commentary for building names and photo points; stopping time is limited.
- Keep water handy; even short outdoor stops can be windy and sunny.
- If you want a longer photo session, note it to the driver before the day starts so timing can be adjusted.
Monte Smith hill – Temple of Apollo, Stadium & Amphitheatre
Short visit to Monte Smith for panoramic views across Rhodes and the sea; view the archaeological remains (Temple of Apollo, ancient stadium and amphitheatre).
Tips from local experts:
- Paths include some uneven stones; wear sensible shoes and allow a slow pace for photos.
- Bring sunglasses and a hat for the open hilltop; shade is limited near the ruins.
- Plan to be back to the vehicle promptly so the schedule to the beach remains on time.
Anthony Quinn Bay – photo & viewpoint
Brief stop at Anthony Quinn Bay for views of the small rocky bay associated with the actor; short photo opportunity (no extended beach time at this stop).
Tips from local experts:
- This is a brief stop for photos; the bay has steps and rocky surfaces—use caution near the water.
- If you plan to swim here independently later, there are paid sunbeds and a small restaurant on site.
- Respect local signage and private property when accessing viewpoints.
Faliraki Beach – quick look
Drive-by and short stop at the long sandy Faliraki Beach to view facilities and options (water sports, cafés). This is an information stop, not the final beach free time.
Tips from local experts:
- Faliraki is busy in high summer; brief stops are best to avoid crowds.
- If you prefer lively beach amenities, note Faliraki for future longer stays; this tour's final beach will be at Kallithea.
- There are public toilets and showers along the main beach strip if needed during a quick stop.
Agia Marina / Santa Marina – scenic viewpoint
Short viewpoint stop at Agia Marina / Santa Marina area to see the small bay and beach character; good for couple photos and short orientation.
Tips from local experts:
- There are steps down to small coves here; hold hands on stairs and take care with shoes.
- Small beach bars here accept cash or card; keep small change for quick purchases.
- If you prefer a quieter, boutique beach atmosphere, note Santa Marina as an alternative for future visits.
Transfer to final beach option (Kallithea Springs area)
Drive from the viewpoint area to the Kallithea Springs / Kallithea beach zone where you will have the allotted free time to relax by the sea. Note: admission to the Kallithea Springs site is not included.
Tips from local experts:
- Allow the driver to help with luggage and any purchased sunbed vouchers before you disembark.
- If you plan to enter the Kallithea Springs complex, have small change ready as admission is sometimes paid at the gate.
- Keep your watch on local time; the driver will reconfirm pickup time so you return to the ship on time.
Beach free time at Kallithea (relaxation & optional swim)
Unsupervised free time to relax on the beach, swim, snorkel or use local beach services. Driver will return at the pre-agreed time to bring you back to the ship.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring sunscreen, swimwear, and a sarong or light cover-up for sun protection between swims.
- Check for marked swimming areas and avoid rocky spots if you are not wearing water shoes.
- Set a visible alarm or agree a clear pickup spot with the driver to ensure timely return to the ship.
Return transfer to ship / drop-off
Driver collects the group from the agreed beach pickup point and returns you to the cruise terminal or agreed drop-off point, ensuring timely arrival.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm with the driver the exact drop-off point at the port to avoid extra walking to the terminal.
- Keep any belongings and purchases packed and ready before the agreed pickup time.
- If your ship requires specific arrival timing, communicate this to the driver on pickup so timing is prioritized.
