Itinerary
Day 1
Late-afternoon meeting in Monti, then a 3-hour guided golf cart route timed to catch golden hour and Rome’s evening illumination. The route follows the Bokun agenda items; each stop is brief and romantic with photo time and short walks.
Meeting & Check-in — Pickup at Via Urbana 167
Meet your guide and group just outside the restricted-traffic gate at Via Urbana 167. Quick safety briefing, seat allocation in the eco-friendly golf cart and boarding.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10 minutes early to complete a quick check-in and secure the best seats (front row has the best views).
- This pickup point is just outside the ZTL (restricted traffic zone) — wearing a light jacket is handy for the brief wait.
- Taxi/drop-off: request 'Via Urbana 167, near Vicolo dei Serpenti' to avoid ZTL fines; the guide will meet you outside the gate.
Drive-through & Photo Stop — Monti District (Vicolo dei Serpenti)
Cruise the cobbled lanes of Rione Monti, enjoy the neighborhood’s eclectic boutiques and cafés, and stop for a quick photo at Vicolo dei Serpenti.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask your guide to pause at a quiet corner for soft-lit photos — the district’s warm streetlights are very flattering at dusk.
- If you want a later longer return, note the guide’s recommended café (for a post-tour espresso) in case you want a private stroll.
- Monti is mostly flat but some side streets have cobbles — bring comfortable shoes for the short walk from the golf cart.
Colosseum Viewpoint — Evening Photos & Short Walk
Stop at a scenic vantage point for a dramatic sunset and illuminated-view photo of the Colosseum. Short walk allowed toward the monument for closer shots.
Tips from local experts:
- For the most romantic photos, ask to park at the viewpoint on Via di San Gregorio — it frames the Colosseum with fewer people at this hour.
- Golden-hour note: in May the light lingers — keep your camera ready for the transition from warm glow to night illumination.
- Accessibility: the viewpoint and nearest sidewalk are wheelchair-friendly; ask the guide to position the cart for easiest access.
Roman Fora Imperial — Stroll the Ancient Squares
Short stop to admire and photograph the illuminated Imperial Forums from the cart and on a brief walk along pedestrian viewpoints.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask the guide for the best quick photo angle where Trajan’s Column lines up with the forum ruins — especially dramatic after sunset.
- Keep conversations soft and respectful — the ambiance here at night is unexpectedly peaceful and perfect for couples.
- If you have limited mobility, request the guide parks close to the main viewpoint — surfaces are uneven within the ruins area.
Short Transfer — Drive to Rooftop (Palazzo Manfredi area)
Five-minute scenic drive from the Imperial Fora area to the rooftop restaurant near the Colosseum for your special moment.
Tips from local experts:
- Use this short drive to relax and let the guide point out lesser-known illuminated façades along the route.
- If you prefer a quieter option, tell the guide now — they can adjust the rooftop stop to a smaller terrace nearby.
- Seat choice: center seats face forward for best skyline views as you approach the rooftop.
Special Moment — Rooftop Cocktail at Aroma (Palazzo Manfredi)
A 30-minute romantic rooftop cocktail with direct views of the Colosseum — a pause to toast the city as lights come on. (Non-alcohol options available.)
Tips from local experts:
- Request a table or standing spot on the terrace that faces the Colosseum — it’s the perfect intimate backdrop for a toast.
- Pro tip: order a light aperitivo (prosecco or non-alcoholic sparkling) and share a small plate to keep the tour flexible.
- Aroma is wheelchair-accessible via the hotel elevator; if you need assistance, let the guide know before arrival.
Trevi Fountain — Coin Toss & Photos
Stop a few meters from the fountain so you can step out for the classic coin toss and evening photos while the driver waits.
Tips from local experts:
- Stand slightly left of the central statue for photos to include both you and the full fountain — it avoids the busiest central push.
- Coin toss tradition: toss the coin over your left shoulder with your back to the fountain — the guide will show you the best position.
- This area can still be busy; hold hands and keep belongings close — the guide will stay nearby and suggest a less crowded angle if needed.
Pantheon — Evening Facade & Quick Interior Look
Park in front of the Pantheon for a short walk to admire the majestic portico and, if open, a quick interior look at the oculus-lit dome.
Tips from local experts:
- Evening visit: the square is atmospheric and less crowded after sunset — try to photograph the lit portico from slightly to the left for the best perspective.
- If you’d like to enter, the Pantheon sometimes has short queues — ask the guide to time the stop for minimal waiting.
- Note: the Pantheon floor is smooth but can be slippery when wet; wear sensible shoes for the short walk.
Church of Sant’Ignazio — Baroque Frescoes at Dusk
A brief visit to appreciate Sant’Ignazio’s celebrated trompe-l'œil dome and Baroque interior — a quiet, candlelit moment.
Tips from local experts:
- The painted dome is best viewed from the center aisle — arrive early in the stop to secure a good vantage point.
- Speak softly to preserve the church’s calm; the warm interior lighting complements evening photos beautifully.
- The church is step-free at the main entrance; if you need seating, the guide can point out accessible spots.
Piazza Navona — Fountain of the Four Rivers & Night Ambiance
Drive through and pause so you can step out near the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi for atmospheric evening photos and people-watching.
Tips from local experts:
- Stand on the steps of the church of Sant'Agnese to capture the fountain framed by the Baroque façade — magical at night.
- Street musicians often play here; let the guide position the cart so you enjoy the music without blocking passage.
- If you want a later private stroll, note the café terrace owners — some reserve small tables for returning guests.
Quick Transfer — Drive toward Aventine Hill
Short scenic drive across the river toward Aventine Hill to catch the famous keyhole view — enjoy twilight cityscapes en route.
Tips from local experts:
- This drive offers a quieter, green side of Rome in the evening — ask the guide for a quick pause if you'd like a skyline photo.
- Seat on the left side of the cart for best sunset views when crossing toward Aventine.
- If mobility is a concern, request the guide to park as close as possible to the keyhole entrance.
Aventine Keyhole — Frame St. Peter’s Basilica
A romantic, secretive moment: peer together through the Knights of Malta keyhole for the perfectly framed view of St. Peter’s Basilica.
Tips from local experts:
- The keyhole is small — take turns peeking and then step back for a quiet selfie with the painted gate as backdrop.
- Nighttime framing is intimate and less crowded — hold hands and enjoy the hushed atmosphere.
- Note accessibility: the keyhole is at the priory gate; there’s a short step — the guide can help position wheelchairs or strollers nearby.
Pass the Vittoriano (Altare della Patria) — Final Illuminated Drive-by
Conclude with a short drive past the Vittoriano in Piazza Venezia for one last grand view of Rome’s classic white monument, beautifully lit at night.
Tips from local experts:
- Ask the guide to pause briefly at the best viewpoint along Via dei Fori Imperiali for one final skyline photo.
- The Vittoriano is brilliantly lit at night and makes a dramatic final shot — try a wide-angle selfie to include both of you and the monument.
- If you’d like to be dropped nearby for a late dinner or a romantic walk, instruct the guide before disembarkation.
