Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day private tour from Side to Pamukkale and Salda Lake, with hotel pick-up and drop-off, guide, lunch and private transportation.
Hotel pick-up in Side and drive to Pamukkale
Pick-up from hotels or residences in Side, then private transfer to the Pamukkale area. Time allocated for the drive and short comfort stops en route.
Tips from local experts:
- Be ready in the hotel lobby 5–10 minutes before your confirmed pick-up time and wait outside hotel security as requested.
- Bring a light jacket for the coach as mornings can be cool even in spring; there will be brief comfort stops on the way.
- Keep passports or ID with you during pick-up for guide check-in if requested by the operator.
Visit Pamukkale (travertines) and ancient city of Hierapolis
Guided visit to the Pamukkale travertines and the archaeological site of Hierapolis. Walk the terraces (note bare feet or soft-soled shoes are required on travertines) and see the main ruins and Roman theatre. Access to the Cleopatra (Antique) Pool is optional and requires a separate fee.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear sturdy, non-slip shoes you can remove easily; walking on travertines requires bare feet or soft-soled footwear in designated areas.
- If you plan to enter the Cleopatra (Antique) Pool, bring swimwear and a towel — entry is an extra fee and must be paid at the site.
- Carry sunscreen, a hat and water; much of the site is exposed with limited shade, especially around midday.
Lunch in Pamukkale
Lunch at a traditional Turkish restaurant in the Pamukkale village area with time to rest before continuing to Salda Lake.
Tips from local experts:
- Inform your guide of any dietary restrictions at the start of the day so the restaurant can accommodate you.
- Turkish lunch typically includes multiple small dishes; ask for a simpler plate if you prefer lighter portions.
- There are limited vegetarian/vegan options in small local restaurants—notify the guide in advance if you need specific meals.
Drive to and visit Salda Lake
Travel from Pamukkale to Salda Lake (Yeşilova, Burdur). Time allocated for a scenic visit to the lake's white sandy shore and short shoreline walk. Salda is known for its clear water and white sand beaches.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring swimwear, a towel and sun protection if you plan to step into the water; access is natural shoreline with limited facilities.
- Wear comfortable shoes for walking on sand and uneven shoreline; parts can be soft and powdery underfoot.
- Plan for limited shade and parking-area facilities; carry bottled water and any personal items you need during the short visit.
Return drive to Side and hotel drop-off
Private transfer back to Side with drop-off at your original hotel or residence. Time is allocated for driving and brief comfort stops as needed.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect to arrive back in Side in the late evening; bring any medications or essentials with you on the day as stores may be closed on return.
- There will be comfort stops on the return drive; keep valuables with you on the vehicle rather than in checked luggage.
- Allow a 10–15 minute flexibility window for final drop-offs as traffic and road conditions can affect arrival times.
