Trail to the Sea of Clouds
Embark on an unforgettable adventure into the Mae Taeng district, just 90 minutes north of Chiang Mai. Our journey along the Trail to the Sea of Clouds leads to one of Northern Thailand’s most striking peaks — a challenging ascent that rewards hikers with sweeping 360° views and a breathtaking panorama of Doi Luang Chiang Dao, Thailand’s third-highest mountain. The route winds through a Musur hilltribe village, tranquil pine forests, and along a rugged mountain ridge before the final push to the summit. From the trailhead, the climb begins immediately, passing through farms and village paths before entering dense forest. As the slope steepens, sections of scrambling over boulders will test your endurance, until the trail levels at the base of the peak. The final scramble to the summit is both demanding and exhilarating, but the reward — standing high above the valley in the Sea of Clouds — makes every step worthwhile. At the summit, we’ll pause to soak in the views and enjoy snacks and refreshments before descending. The standard loop is 10km, but seasoned hikers can take on the full 23km route for a true endurance challenge. For those who prefer a shorter day, there are options to adjust the distance or even return via the same trail. What to ExpectThis is a technically demanding trek, best suited for hikers with a good level of fitness. The terrain is steep, uneven, and includes scrambling sections. Alternate routes and drive-in options are available for those who prefer a shorter or less strenuous experience.

Doi Inthanon and Pa Chor Canyon 1 Day Tour
After being picked up from your accommodation in Chiang Mai, we’ll drive about 90 minutes to the park in a comfortable, air-conditioned van or SUV. Our first stop is the majestic Mae Ya Waterfall, one of Thailand’s most impressive – and often overlooked – waterfalls. A short walk from the parking area brings you to this breathtaking cascade, where you’ll have time to relax, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.Next, we’ll visit Mae Klang Luang, a Karen hill tribe village nestled among terraced rice fields and framed by lush mountains. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the village and nearby nature trails, and stop by a charming local coffee shop where coffee is brewed over an open fire. Try your hand at grinding beans using traditional tools and enjoy a freshly brewed cup while chatting with the friendly locals.Lunch is served at a local restaurant with beautiful views over the valley – a perfect spot to relax and refuel before continuing our journey. In the afternoon, we’ll stop at Wachirathan Waterfall, the most powerful waterfall in the park in terms of water volume. Its thundering flow and misty spray make it a spectacular photo stop and a highlight of the trip. We’ll then leave Doi Inthanon and head into Mae Wang National Park for the final adventure of the day: Pa Chor Canyon – a remarkable geological site with a story that goes back thousands of years. This area was once part of the course of the Ping River, one of northern Thailand’s major rivers. Over time, the river shifted its path due to tectonic activity and natural erosion. The exposed landscape was then gradually sculpted by wind and rain into a maze of towering soil pillars, cliffs, and ridges. Some of these natural columns reach up to 30 meters high, and the distinct layers in the soil walls tell a story of ancient riverbeds and sediment deposits. The loop trail through the canyon takes about an hour round-trip, with some steep stairs and uneven sections, so moderate fitness is recommended. Along the way, you’ll enjoy dramatic views of the formations and the surrounding forested hills – a striking and unexpected contrast to the lush waterfalls and villages earlier in the day. From here, it’s about an hour’s drive back to Chiang Mai, where we’ll drop you off at your accommodation and conclude a memorable day of exploration, nature, and culture.
