Spend 3–6 hours exploring Riisitunturi National Park with your own private local guide.This flexible winter adventure gives us time to go beyond the most visited parts of Riisitunturi and explore quieter forests, open fell landscapes and less-visited corners of the national park.There is no fixed route or distance. When booking, you can tell us how long and active you would like your adventure to be and what you would especially like to experience. We use your wishes together with the weather and snow conditions to plan the day. The final route is always decided according to the conditions at Riisitunturi.We usually explore approximately 4–7 km, while active groups can cover up to approximately 10 km. Guided hike in Oulanka national park with a touch of forest yoga and well-being in nature. There is no better feeling than being in the woods, under the trees, at the heart of the forest, doing Forest Yoga. Trees and rocks are used as props in our poses. Forest yoga poses suit everybody and no previous experience is needed. On marked routes and reindeer paths, we can see the most breathtaking landscapes, enjoy the forests' silence, and learn a lot about nature. Occasionally, we stop for a yoga break along the way. There is always a good time to be in nature and a forest yoga walk is done every day of the week in new landscapes. Walking distance 2-6km and time 2h depending on the day.A forest yoga walk is a combination of yoga and various relaxation, breathing and meditation exercises, It is a relaxing trip to the middle of nature, to the shade of trees, to the side of a rock, to the top of the fell. Asanas and exercises balance the body and mind. During the trip, we will also practice nature immersion and forest breathing techniques that take us even deeper into the world of the forest. Have you ever experienced a night sky full of stars and a silent forest around you? In autumn time (mid-August - October) when we don't have snow lightning the night stars are brighter and northern lights are easy to spot from the black sky. In the right place, you can see them reflected on the calm surface of the lake. When winter comes, we do this same trip with snowshoes.During this trip, you will learn to navigate according to the stars and hear stories about the mythological heroes running in the sky. You may find your own zodiac sign, spot the brightest star, and hear its many names in Arabic, Greek, and Sámi. We also see one star which is more than 600 times bigger than our own sun and we see light that has travelled 640 years to greet us. The starry sky is full of amazing stories. Northern lights may also appear in the sky during the trip. Then it’s nice to lie on your back with reindeer skin, watch them dance up there in the sky, and drink some warm cranberry juice.You'll meet your guide at Saarua parking lot info sign (Ahon Jussintie 7). You get a small backpack with binoculars, a planisphere, a seat cover and a thermos flask. You can also use your own. At first, we walk uphill to get to the best sky-viewing spots. We'll walk through snowy forests, cross small frozen lakes, and head into the wilderness. Depending on our destination we may walk along the Big Bear's Trail or explore nature reserve areas. On the top of the fells, we see the entire northern horizon. While admiring the snowy landscape and winter around us, we enjoy traditional wild berry juice. Your guide tells you stories about the nature around us and our cool arctic lifestyle.Duration is 5-6 hours and the length with snowshoes is 7-8 km. On the quiet slopes of Iivaara we walk first in the shelter of the forest and climb up to the top. From the top you can see far to the east, to the Russian border and to Ruka. We'll find the source of the river Iijoki and by the campfire make coffee from the spring water. On the way we may see the animals of the forest and even the traces in trees left by the bear.Duration is 8 hours and walking distance is 9 km.The tour is private and requires a minimum of 2 people. Leave the lights of Ruka behind and discover what the winter forest feels like after dark.Starry Sky Stories is a relaxed evening snowshoe adventure at Konttainen, where darkness, stars, silence and stories come together.We begin with headlamps showing us the way through the snow-covered forest.Then we switch them off.Away from artificial light, we give our eyes time to adjust to the natural darkness. At first, you may see very little. Gradually, shapes begin to return. The snow reflects faint light from the sky and the forest around us becomes visible in a different way.On a clear night, stars appear above the trees.Your guide helps you find some of the familiar features of the northern sky and shares stories about stars, constellations and how people have used the night sky to find their way.You do not need any previous knowledge of astronomy. This is not an astronomy lecture, but a chance to look up, listen and experience the Arctic night at an unhurried pace.During the adventure, we stop for hot wild berry juice and take time to enjoy the quiet surroundings.The Northern Lights may also appear.They are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. If they appear during our adventure, we will stop to enjoy the show in the Arctic sky – there is no need to hurry.This is not a Northern Lights hunt. Combine yoga and nice hike in the most beautiful nature scenery. Our trail to the peak goes through an old forest which has a lot of stories and history; on the way we also get to know the arctic nature, its plants and animals. We walk about 5 km on the path and in the forest.Always when it feels like it, we put our backpacks down, enjoy the view and few moments of forest yoga. Gentle, peaceful, body-stretching yoga poses combined to the benefits of nature. What could be better! We do poses mainly by standing up and use trees and rocks as support. Forest yoga suits for everybody and no previous experience is needed. At the top the silent view continues for as long as you can see and there we just sit still, do a short breathing exercise and enjoy the nature. After that we continue to the fireplace. With good luck the Siberian Jays may come and greet us when we make nettle pancakes and enjoy wild berry juice by the campfire. Duration: 5-6 hours, lenght 5 km.Group size: 1- 8. Activity will be normally arranged when minimum 2 adults are attending. But of course MyTrail has options for private/customized departures and solo travelers. Riisitunturi after dark.Experience Riisitunturi National Park after dark on a private winter tour planned around the northern sky.We spend approximately 3 hours in Riisitunturi, exploring the snow-covered forests and fell landscapes at a relaxed pace. Depending on the date and conditions, the night may bring bright moonlight, a sky filled with stars, deep winter darkness or perhaps the Northern Lights.There is no fixed route. Your local guide chooses the route and timing according to the snow, visibility, weather conditions and what you would most like to experience.We usually explore approximately 4–5 km. Depending on the conditions, we may use snowshoes, winter boots or ice grips. No previous snowshoeing experience is required.Lie Back and Look UpOne of our favourite ways to experience a winter night is also one of the simplest.During the tour, we find a quiet place, spread reindeer hides on the snow and lie down on our backs to look at the sky. We enjoy hot chocolate and Finnish cinnamon buns while watching whatever the northern night has to offer.This is something we locals do too. Sometimes the best way to experience a winter night is simply to stop, get comfortable and look up.Reindeer hides, hot chocolate and Finnish cinnamon buns are included.Full Moon NightsAround the full moon, Riisitunturi can be surprisingly bright. Moonlight reflects from the snow and can illuminate the fell, forests and snow-covered spruce trees in soft shades of silver and blue.The best moonlight is available only during a limited period each month. If experiencing Riisitunturi by moonlight is important to you, please let us know. We can recommend a suitable date and departure time according to the phase and position of the moon.During darker phases of the moon, conditions may be better for stargazing.Northern Lights and StarsOn clear, dark nights, Riisitunturi offers good conditions for watching the northern sky. If solar activity and weather conditions come together, we may also see the Northern Lights.This is not an aurora hunt, and Northern Lights cannot be guaranteed.
