A pleasant walk in this magical part of the cityThe Fort area is home to many historical buildings—the best way to visit is by walking and enjoying. You will walk looking and learning about the main sights of this area, starting at Regal Cinema, followed by the Gateway of India, Cathedral of the Holy Name, and then the buildings on the south side of Kala Ghoda such as the Institute of Science, Prince of Wales Museum, David Sassoon Library, Elphinstone College, Army and Navy Building, Watson Hotel and Jehangir Art Gallery. Get an inside look at one of Maharashtra’s most popular religious festivals on our Ganesh Chaturthi Tour!Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day Hindu festival in honor of the elephant-headed god Ganesh, the remover of obstacles and god of wisdom.Families and communities install a clay statue of the god in their home or communal space and honor the god each day, at times led by a priest, with a variety of rituals. At the end, they lead a procession with the statue to a body of water and immerse him. The immersion represents sending the god home along with the troubles of man and everyone prays that he will come again early the following year.We’re going to look at this festival from all angles. We’ll start by understanding the different ways the festival is celebrated in Dharavi by visiting the homes of families from various regions of India. Mumbai at Dawn Tour
Get up early to see Mumbai as few others do!Mumbai is on the go 24 hours a day and if you take the effort to wake up a little bit early, you can experience a completely different side of the city which few get to see!Mumbai at dawn appears quieter than normal initially, but when you enter the various markets (fruit, meat, fish) you will be woken up by the size and energy of these places with its people carrying, cleaning, selling and hustling. The fragrant smells of the spices, vegetables and fruit linger in the air as you pass by but so do the fish and the meat. The meat market is not for the faint hearted (you can choose to skip this) and even the most ardent carnivores might raise an eyebrow at the fate of the thousands of poor chickens. On our way to our partner village, Chinchoti, we’ll stop off quickly at Alibag to see Colaba Fort in the distance, we’ll then visit several local industries such as brick-making and rice processing where depending on the season, you might get involved if you wish!
