Itinerary
Day 1
Full-day (4-hour) shared boat cruise from Mellieħa to Comino with swimming, snorkelling, short coastal stops and photo opportunities.
Meet at Seabreeze Cruises (Mellieħa) — boarding & briefing
Meet the crew at the Seabreeze Cruises meeting point in Mellieħa. Boarding, safety briefing, and equipment distribution (snorkel masks, brief on stand-up board use). Restroom available on board.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 10–15 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow safe boarding and equipment fitting.
- Bring ID and printed or digital voucher for check-in at the kiosk outside the ferry terminal where the boat waits.
- Use the onboard restroom before disembarking at bays with rocky shorelines where facilities are limited.
Crystal Lagoon — sea caves & swim stop
Explore the caves of Crystal Lagoon by boat, swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear turquoise waters. Opportunity to enter small caves and observe rock formations from the water.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear reef-safe sunscreen and water shoes — some cave entries are over sharp rocks.
- Keep small valuables in a waterproof pouch or leave them with the crew — swim zones are busy and easy to misplace items.
- If you plan to snorkel, tie your mask strap securely and check equipment fit during the briefing to avoid losing gear in currents.
Blue Lagoon — free time for swimming & snorkelling
Arrive at the Blue Lagoon; its shallow sandy seabed and bright blue water make it ideal for swimming, snorkelling, or relaxing on the boat/shore. Approximately one hour of free time.
Tips from local experts:
- Blue Lagoon requires a free pass for disembarkation on the shore; register for the Blue Lagoon Free-Pass in advance (or confirm instructions with the crew).
- Use the boat’s ladder to enter/exit the water — currents can pull you slightly; follow crew instructions for safe re-boarding.
- Avoid standing on the seabed in shallow areas where sea grass beds are present to protect marine life; use sandy patches for wading.
Pass Gozo — visit Gebla tal Halfa (Promising Rock)
Pass by the island of Gozo and stop near a coastal rock formation known locally as Gebla tal Halfa (Promising Rock) for views and short swims/photographs. Approximately 45 minutes at this stop.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep cameras ready for coastal views of Gozo; the boat will hold position for photos — use a wrist strap for cameras or phones.
- If you plan to swim here, check with the crew about currents before entering; wear a life vest if not a confident swimmer.
- This stop can be breezy; bring a light windbreaker or towel to warm up after swimming.
Photo stop — Santa Maria Caves
Brief photo stop at the Santa Maria Caves to capture coastal caves and rock formations from the boat.
Tips from local experts:
- Stay seated when the captain positions the boat close to the caves; sudden waves can rock the vessel.
- Use a polarizing filter or HDR mode on your phone/camera to reduce glare and capture deeper blues.
- Keep distance from cave walls if advised by the crew — some ledges can be unstable and sharp.
Santa Marija Bay & Elephant Rock — short stops
Quick photo stops at Santa Marija Bay and the nearby Elephant Rock formation while the boat returns toward Mellieħa.
Tips from local experts:
- These are short photo stops — have your camera ready and follow crew directions for the safest viewing position.
- Do not attempt to climb rocks from the boat; disembarkment is not offered at all bays due to slippery or steep access.
- If staying on deck, secure loose items and be mindful of sun exposure — bring a hat and sunglasses for rapid changes in light.
