Itinerary
Day 1
Evening hotel pickup in Cairo and transfer to the train station for the overnight sleeper to Luxor.
Meet and pick up from your hotel
At 18:00 your tour leader will meet you in the lobby of your Cairo hotel and transfer you by private A/C van to the train station for the overnight sleeper to Luxor (train boarding follows station procedures).
Tips from local experts:
- Be in the hotel lobby 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time so transfer can depart promptly.
- Carry your passport and any travel documents in a small day bag you can keep with you on the train.
- Bring a light jacket for the train night: cabins can be cooler than hotel rooms.
Day 2
Arrival in Luxor early morning. Full-day guided sightseeing on the West and East Banks, local lunch, then return to Luxor station for the sleeper back to Cairo.
Arriving to Luxor Train Station and meet with Your Tour Guide
About 06:00 you arrive at Luxor Railway Station. Your Egyptologist guide will meet you at the train exit and escort you to the private vehicle to begin the day tour in Luxor.
Tips from local experts:
- Expect a short walk from the train door to the station exit; let the guide handle luggage logistics if you need assistance.
- Keep a copy of your passport handy for site entrances as it may be required.
- Morning temperatures are cooler—bring a light layer that can be removed as the day warms.
Visiting The valley of Kings in West bank of Luxor
Transfer to the West Bank to see the Colossi of Memnon and then visit the Valley of the Kings. You will enter and walk through three tombs selected by your guide.
Tips from local experts:
- Tombs are carved into rock and often have low ceilings and uneven steps; take wider, careful steps and use handrails where provided.
- There are restroom facilities near the Valley of the Kings entrance; use them before entering the tombs as facilities inside are limited.
- Carry your included bottled water and a hat—shade is limited between sites on the West Bank.
Hatshepsut Temple Visit
Visit the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, a terraced temple rising from the desert plain. After the visit there will be time for shopping at local papyrus and alabaster outlets if desired.
Tips from local experts:
- The temple site has uneven stone surfaces—wear supportive, closed shoes and allow extra time to move between terraces.
- Seats and shaded areas are limited at the site; plan short rests after stair sections.
- If you plan to shop at papyrus or alabaster shops, let your guide know any mobility needs so stops are arranged with minimal walking.
Lunch
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor (menu options can accommodate common dietary needs; please advise the guide of requirements).
Tips from local experts:
- Ask for seating with back support and a table close to the entrance if you prefer minimal walking after the meal.
- Confirm any dietary restrictions with the guide before ordering to ensure the kitchen can accommodate them.
- Bottled water is included; if you need hot beverages or specific items, request them early to avoid waits.
Karnak Temple Visit
Visit the Karnak Temple complex on the East Bank, including the main avenues and the Hypostyle Hall. Your guide will lead a measured walk through the main monuments.
Tips from local experts:
- Karnak covers a large area—ask for the gentlest route and seating breaks to limit standing time.
- Many parts are partially shaded; bring sunglasses and a hat for sunny sections between monuments.
- Public restrooms are located near the main entrance; use them before entering deeper sections of the complex.
Taking the slepper train back to Cairo
In the evening your guide will transfer you to Luxor Railway Station to board the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo. The scheduled departure is 23:00.
Tips from local experts:
- Return to the train station at the agreed meeting time so boarding and luggage stowage proceed without rush.
- Keep essential items (medications, passport, glasses) in a small bag you keep with you overnight on the train.
- Bring a light layer for the train cabin; nights can feel cool and air-conditioning levels vary.
Meet and pick up from Giza train Station to your hotel in Cairo
Approximately 08:00 (arrival at Giza train station), your tour leader will meet you and transfer you to your Cairo hotel.
Tips from local experts:
- Confirm your hotel name and room readiness with the guide the evening before so drop-off is smooth.
- Have local contact numbers and a small amount of local currency handy for small incidentals at arrival.
- If you need assistance with luggage or a slower pace from the station to the vehicle, tell the guide on arrival so they can arrange help.
