Itinerary
Day 1
Meet in Karaköy and take a guided 2‑hour small-group yacht cruise along the Bosphorus, visiting major waterside landmarks. Recommended for couples — choose the 17:00 sunset departure for golden-hour views.
Meet at the designated meeting point (Garden / Yemeniciler Cd.)
Arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before boarding. Your guide will be waiting at the wooden port area with the company flag near the Galata Bridge / Karaköy waterfront.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to locate the guide near the wooden pier and company flag.
- Bring a light jacket — evenings on the water are cooler even in May.
- Keep your mobile phone handy for the guide to confirm names; Wi‑Fi on the pier is limited.
Boarding and safety briefing
Board the yacht, store small bags, and receive a short safety briefing from the crew. Staff will point out where to sit for best views and explain the audioguide app in available languages.
Tips from local experts:
- Keep any large backpacks at the meeting point; storage on deck is limited.
- If either of you is prone to seasickness, take motion‑sickness measures before boarding.
- Ask crew members to show the restroom location before departure.
Depart and sail the Bosphorus (intro)
The yacht departs Karaköy and begins the Bosphorus cruise. Crew will serve bottled water, seasonal fruit and light snacks; the audioguide app provides context in 6 languages.
Tips from local experts:
- Open the audioguide app as you leave the pier; signal strength improves once clear of the shore.
- Position yourselves on the starboard or port side depending on which skyline you prefer (European or Asian shore).
- Keep cameras ready — first wide views of the strait appear shortly after departure.
View: Galata Bridge (short stop / photo opportunity)
Pass under or near the Galata Bridge and pause for photos. Guests may have a brief window to step ashore nearby after the cruise if previously arranged; otherwise enjoy the view from deck.
Tips from local experts:
- If you plan to walk on the bridge before or after the cruise, comfortable shoes are recommended — surfaces can be uneven.
- Keep valuables secure — the bridge area is busy with people and vendors.
- Ask the guide for the best side of the deck for sunset photos at this point.
Pass: Karaköy port area
Cruise past the main Karaköy port and waterfront complex — a lively quay area connecting Galata and Eminönü.
Tips from local experts:
- Karaköy has many cafes and bakeries if you want to return on foot after the cruise.
- Watch for small commuter ferries near the port when photographing; they add local character to shots.
- Use the audioguide marker for historical context about Karaköy as you pass.
View: Galata Tower (from the water)
Admire the Galata Tower rising above the Beyoğlu skyline — a classic photo moment from the Bosphorus side.
Tips from local experts:
- Use a zoom lens for close-up tower photos from the deck; the tower is set back from the shoreline.
- Golden-hour light flatters the stonework; sunset departures enhance colors.
- If you plan to visit the tower later, purchase timed-entry tickets in advance to avoid queues.
View: Beşiktaş (stadium area)
Pass the seaside district of Beşiktaş and the home stadium of the Beşiktaş football club.
Tips from local experts:
- Match days can increase local boat and road traffic; check schedules if you have tight onward plans.
- Bring a light sweater—sea breeze is noticeable when the yacht slows near the shore.
- The crew will point out which side of the boat gives the best stadium view as you pass.
View: Dolmabahçe Mosque
See the ornate Dolmabahçe Mosque on the waterfront, built in a late Ottoman baroque style beside Dolmabahçe Palace.
Tips from local experts:
- Respect mosque etiquette if you plan to disembark nearby later (conservative dress, quiet behavior).
- This area is photogenic at low sun; keep sunglasses handy for return to shore.
- Crew can point out the mosque’s main architectural details while passing.
View: Dolmabahçe Palace (waterside palace)
Pass the grand Dolmabahçe Palace built on reclaimed shoreline — a highlight of the Bosphorus route.
Tips from local experts:
- Bring a camera for palace and waterfront reflection shots; the palace appears prominently from the deck.
- If you plan a palace visit later, allow time for security checks at the palace entrance.
- The audioguide includes a short palace history segment; listen during this segment for best context.
Pass: Ortaköy (seaside quarter)
Cruise alongside Ortaköy — the district is known for its mosque on the water and lively waterfront squares.
Tips from local experts:
- Ortaköy’s waterside cafes are a romantic spot after disembarkation; note opening hours if you plan to visit.
- The Ortaköy Mosque is best photographed from the boat with the bridge in the background.
- Keep small personal items secured when the yacht slows near the shore (wind can pick up).
View: Bosphorus Bridge (15 July Martyrs Bridge)
Enjoy sweeping views of the principal bridge linking Europe and Asia from the water.
Tips from local experts:
- For bridge photos, position yourselves on the deck side facing the bridge (crew will advise).
- Evening departures often have less glare for bridge silhouettes; use a fast shutter for handheld shots.
- Be mindful of other boats in the shipping lane when taking panoramic photos.
Pass: Bebek (coastal neighborhood)
Cruise past the upscale Bebek shoreline, popular for seaside promenades and cafes.
Tips from local experts:
- Bebek is pleasant for a romantic walk after the cruise; check café closing times if you plan to go ashore.
- The yacht slows for extended waterfront views—consider using the deck bench for comfortable viewing.
- Watch for reflections on the water when composing evening photos.
View: Rumeli Hisarı (Rumeli Fortress)
Pass the medieval Rumeli Hisarı fortress on the European shore — an important historical fortification.
Tips from local experts:
- This fortress looks particularly striking at dusk; keep camera settings ready for low light.
- If you plan to visit on land later, note that the fortress grounds have uneven paths and limited shade.
- Listen to the audioguide for the fortress’s role in Ottoman era maritime defenses.
View: Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge (second bridge)
Crossing the mid‑Bosphorus, view the second major bridge connecting Europe and Asia.
Tips from local experts:
- This bridge is further north; keep binoculars or zoom lens for close framing.
- Evening light can silhouette the bridge — try side-by-side portraits with the bridge in the background.
- Maintain stable footing when photographing from the moving deck.
View: Beylerbeyi Palace (Anatolian shore)
Admire Beylerbeyi Palace on the Asian shore — an imperial summer residence visible from the water.
Tips from local experts:
- The palace is best viewed from the deck when the yacht is close to the Asian shore.
- If you plan a land visit, check opening times in advance as they vary seasonally.
- Listen to the audioguide for the palace’s late‑Ottoman history while passing.
View: Anadoluhisarı (Anatolian Castle)
Pass the medieval Anatolian fortress on the Asian side — a compact but historically significant fortification.
Tips from local experts:
- Anadoluhisarı is visible as a small fortress from the boat; use a telephoto lens for details.
- There is limited shade on the deck — plan for brief exposures if it’s sunny.
- Ask the crew for context about its role during the Ottoman conquest era.
View: Maiden's Tower (Kız Kulesi)
See the iconic Maiden’s Tower on its small islet near Üsküdar — one of Istanbul’s most photographed maritime landmarks.
Tips from local experts:
- The tower is on a small islet; visiting the tower requires a separate boat trip which is not included.
- For romantic photos, frame the tower with the sunset sky if on a sunset departure.
- Keep motion-stabilization on for handheld low-light shots.
View: Historical Peninsula (overview)
Take in a wide view of the historical peninsula, where the earliest core of Istanbul — Sultanahmet and the major mosques and palaces — is concentrated.
Tips from local experts:
- This panorama is ideal for wide-angle photography capturing skyline and mosques together.
- If you plan to explore Sultanahmet after disembarkation, conserve energy for short walks and steps.
- The audioguide will cue important landmarks on the peninsula — follow the app for narration timing.
Return toward Karaköy / Eminönü and disembark
The yacht returns to the Karaköy/Eminönü area. Disembark at the original pier. The crew will assist and thank guests; the route concludes here.
Tips from local experts:
- Gather all personal items before final announcement; supervise any small bags or cameras.
- Plan your onward transport from Karaköy — trams, taxis and ferries are available nearby.
- If you enjoyed the cruise, consider a short walk across the Galata Bridge for evening waterfront cafés.
