Day 1
Pickup from hotels within a 6 km radius starts between 07:00–08:00 (exact pickup time confirmed the day before). If outside the pickup radius, meet at The Westin Cape Town by 07:30. Tour departs Cape Town around 08:00 and returns late afternoon (approx. 16:00). Tour duration: ~8 hours.
Bo-Kaap (photo stop)
Drive to and stop in the historic, colourful Bo-Kaap neighbourhood for photos and a short guided orientation about the area's history.
Tips from local experts:
- Streets are cobbled and uneven—use stroller with caution or bring a carrier for small children.
- Bring sun protection (hat/sunscreen) for the short outdoor photo stop.
- Respect places of worship and keep noise low if passing active community sites.
Signal Hill (viewpoint)
Short drive up to Signal Hill for elevated, wide views over Cape Town and the Atlantic Seaboard — quick viewpoint stop and photos.
Tips from local experts:
- Signal Hill can be windy—keep children close and bring a windproof layer.
- The viewpoint requires only a short walk from the pull-in; supervise small children near edges and low walls.
- Parking and space are limited; remain with the guide and follow group safety instructions.
Camps Bay (coastal promenade stop)
Drive along the Atlantic Seaboard to a brief stop at Camps Bay to see the beach and promenade — short walk and photo opportunity.
Tips from local experts:
- The promenade is flat and stroller-friendly for short walks and photos.
- There is limited natural shade on the beach promenade—bring sunscreen for children.
- Cafés and restrooms are available nearby if families need a quick snack or bathroom break.
Hout Bay (Suikerbossie viewpoint)
Enjoy part of the Atlantic seaboard drive with a stop at the Suikerbossie viewpoint area overlooking Hout Bay for photos and short viewpoints.
Tips from local experts:
- Supervise children at viewpoints; there are steep drops in places and limited barriers.
- If interested in boat trips to Seal/Seabird sites, those are arranged separately at Hout Bay Harbour and are not included in the tour price.
- Public restrooms are available in Hout Bay town if needed—ask the guide for the nearest facilities.
Hout Bay town (drive-through / optional harbour stop)
Drive through Hout Bay; short optional stop to view the harbour and Seal Island from the shore (boat trips available separately at the harbour).
Tips from local experts:
- If considering a seal-spotting boat, purchase tickets at Hout Bay Harbour directly; bring motion-sickness remedies if sensitive.
- The harbour area has takeaway food and restrooms—use these if families need a break.
- Quayside surfaces can be slippery when wet—hold children's hands near the water.
Chapman's Peak Drive (scenic viewpoint)
Drive along Chapman's Peak Drive with brief photo stops at designated viewpoints to admire one of the world’s most scenic coastal roads.
Tips from local experts:
- The tour toll for Chapman's Peak Drive is included; stay with the group during roadside photo stops.
- Roadside viewpoints are accessed from safe pull-ins—do not cross barriers or walk on the road.
- Weather can change quickly; have a light jacket for children during exposed stops.
Noordhoek (Village Roast coffee stop)
Short stop at the Village Roast in Noordhoek for coffee and light snacks; good rest stop for families to regroup.
Tips from local experts:
- The café is small—alert the guide if you need a high chair or space for a stroller.
- Bring a small snack for picky children; seating can be limited during peak times.
- Public restrooms are available nearby; use this stop to check-in on children's needs before the longer stretch to Simon's Town.
Simon's Town & Boulders Penguin Colony
Visit Simon's Town and spend time at Boulders Beach boardwalks to view the African penguins in their natural colony (entrance fee to Boulders is excluded and payable on site).
Tips from local experts:
- The Boulders boardwalk includes steps and raised viewing platforms—supervise children at all times.
- Penguins are wild animals; do not touch or feed them and keep a respectful distance.
- Bring water and a sunhat; restrooms and a small kiosk are available at the reserve (entrance fee payable on arrival).
Cape of Good Hope / Cape Point
Visit the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point area for scenic views, short walks to viewpoints and wildlife spotting. Note park entrance fee is excluded and payable at the gate.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear comfortable walking shoes; some paths have uneven surfaces and short inclines suitable for families but not extensive hikes.
- Bring layered clothing—conditions can be cooler and windier at the cape than in the city.
- Park entrance fees are not included; have payment method ready at the reserve entrance (adults/children admission applies).
