Day 1
The Volcano Express
An immersive, 15-minute cinematic experience that departs from Harpa Concert Hall. The show uses recorded data, dramatic storytelling and physical effects to simulate earthquakes, aerial flights over active craters and the sensation of heat from lava. Shows run frequently (every 15 minutes); check in at Harpa before your scheduled start time.
Tips from local experts:
- Arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled showtime to collect tickets and find seating; Harpa’s main information / ticket desk is located on the ground floor near the main entrance (Austurbakki 2).
- The experience includes motion, vibration and heat effects. If you or your companion have sensitivity to motion, heart conditions, or are pregnant, choose a later decision after checking with Harpa staff or select a wheelchair-accessible showtime.
- Harpa is centrally located at the Old Harbour; there are short, well-lit pedestrian routes and benches outside if you want a quiet moment together before or after the show. Dress in layers — Reykjavik spring evenings can be cool even after an indoor show.
