Itinerary
Day 1
Evening tango experience: hotel pickup in Buenos Aires city center, transfer to a traditional milonga in Palermo for a group lesson, social dancing and live orchestra, then return to hotels.
Hotel pickup from Buenos Aires city center
Your evening begins with pickup from centrally located hotels in Buenos Aires. The guide will confirm the exact pickup time and meeting point in advance for hotels outside the central pickup zone.
Tips from local experts:
- Provide your full hotel name and address at booking so the exact pickup location can be confirmed.
- Be ready in the hotel lobby 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time to avoid delays for the group.
- If your hotel is outside the central pickup zone, expect to be assigned a nearby meeting point; confirm this in advance.
Milonga in Palermo — lesson and social dancing
Arrive at a traditional milonga in Palermo. Begin with a guided group lesson covering basic tango steps and local milonga etiquette. After the lesson, stay for social dancing: enjoy the atmosphere, listen to a live orchestra when scheduled, and observe the social codes (line of dance and the cabeceo) explained by your guide. The guide will provide context on tango history and the milonga's customs throughout the evening. After the session and social dancing, transfer back to hotels.
Tips from local experts:
- Wear leather-soled or smooth-soled shoes for ease of turning; avoid heavy heels or thick rubber soles.
- Use the cabeceo (eye/contact invitation) or ask your guide to explain pairing etiquette before you step onto the floor.
- Bring a small amount of cash for coat check, small purchases, or drinks—many milongas accept cash only.
