  • Sunday8:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Tips from local experts:

  • Arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled boat departure to complete the waiver and get fitted — late arrivals (more than 10 minutes) may not be able to join.
  • Bring a small soft bag only; hard suitcases cannot be stored on the RIB. Wallet, phone and camera are fine — secure them with a neck strap.
  • Restrooms are available near the Old Harbour area; use them before boarding as facilities on-site after the tour are limited.

Day 1

High-speed RIB ride from the Old Harbour to the nearby seabird islands (commonly Akurey, Engey or Lundey). Time spent near the colonies is typically around 50 minutes; captain will choose the best vantage points.

Visit the Puffins on their Islands

13:00 – 13:50 • 50m

Short RIB crossings to one or two nearby islands where puffins and other seabirds nest. The captain positions the boat for optimal sea-level viewing and may cut engines briefly to allow quiet observation while the guide provides natural history commentary.

Lundey, Iceland

Tips from local experts:

  • Dress in layers under the provided overalls — it can be windy on the water even in summer; a warm base layer and windproof outer layer work best for couples wanting comfort.
  • Keep camera lenses protected from spray; a small microfiber cloth in a waterproof pocket helps keep photos clear during close approaches.
  • If you prefer quieter moments, ask the guide for a side of the boat with fewer people — each RIB seats up to 12, so small adjustments are possible.

Day 1

Return to the Old Harbour. Disembark and use the service center to remove overalls and plan onward activities. Guides may offer to send any tour photos after confirming your email.

Back to the Harbour

13:50 – 14:00 • 10m

Short return crossing to the Old Harbour. Arrival is approximately one hour after the tour start time. Use the service center to change and access restrooms; confirm contact details with staff if you want tour photos sent by email.

  • Plan onward Reykjavík activities nearby (Harpa Concert Hall, Sun Voyager promenade) since the Old Harbour is central and walkable for a relaxed post-tour stroll.

Yes. A telephoto lens (at least 200mm) is recommended. Your guide can advise on distances and positioning to capture good images while respecting the birds' space and nesting areas.
